Okey.
We haven't used SE1 for Sleepless before, but I know the venue well and was looking forward to filling Deep Blue with Trance, lovely decor and some wicked lights and lasers. I arrived at about 5 to watch it all take shape We used a guy who does Dragonfly parties decor and Visual Reality for the lighting. V.R do such a professional job, if any of you need help with production, these guys are the best. We've been using them for years and love their work.
I was playing b2b from 10 - 1 (listing below) so I had some time to relax and watch the place fill up, whilst also chucking tunes on and having a bounce. Really enjoyed playing and was very pleased with the way everything looked, massive fluoro backdrops around the bar with a spiders web across the ceiling hung with big vines and flowers.
Me and Steve handed over the decks to Tim Seddon, co-promoter and a seriously versatile and underrated DJ. He finished the last party with a powerfully uplifting psy set, this time he played darker and tougher, but not too hard. Just perfect. Juno Reactor, Space Buddha, Crazy Malamute to name a few..
Martin (MWNN) followed and took the pace down a perfect notch or two, with a progressive psy start keeping the attention of most people, but allowing some to drift off to calmer parts. All the while, bubbles were floating through the air as lasers cut through them. He took it faster with classics like Posessed and Floor Essence, drawing the interest firmly back to the dancefloor and away from the comfy sofas in the chill out arch that sheltered a few wobbly people. A well received set from one of my heros and a hugely talented producer.
Ian Betts took the controls for the last 90 minutes. Pretty much everyone was waving their hands wildly, whooping, bouncing and grinning. He's been co-promoter and resident for 5 years, in which time he's become the best known London trance DJ, with a devoted crowd and a natural talent for whipping a club into a frenzy for the last set of the night.
The crowd were super-friendly warm bouncy and sometimes drunk. Lovely.
I'll post a link to the photos when they are up...
Next time, it would be great to get some TA people along. I'll sort a special list with a nice price.

The next party will be our 5th Birthday celebrations, likely to be on Friday 28th November and held at SE1 again. Not sure what the full line-up will be, but I think we'll probably go for Mark Allen again. We had him in April and he was simply mindblowing, both selection of tunes and smooth mixing, all chunky funky psy edged stuff that's perfect for 2-4am. Special effort on decor on lighting, probably some surprises 'cos it's our birthday...
There will also be a second room too, the music policy being strictly breakbeat. In there it looks like we'll have some of the Chew the Fat DJs and hopefully someone very special, to be confirmed soon. I love breaks, I don't know many people that don't, and we think it'll compliment the trance nicely.
I'll have full confirmed details over the next week. Thanks for the interest, you know it makes sense
