The second time, I kind of rolled up to a stoplight too far for the instructors liking. Cost me 25$ each time i failed it and I have been too lazy to go up and try again. The test I had to take was a lot harder than the ones you describe. You have to drive around town making all kinds of turns, across railroad tracks, then you have to drive on a highway for about 30 minutes (I didnt get that far though) The trick is simply to pay attention and dont break any laws and your done! |
This is very much like what the case is with me. Third time was a charm for the written, and now I'll be taking my driving test for a third time once I finally go for it again. Keep in mind, I'm almost 19. The thing is, I can't drive at my University for the first year (which is this coming year), so it is not a big rush to get a license.
I failed the written 2 times beacause the first time I blew it off thinking something like, well I'm smart so it can't be that hard... but it was for someone who knows next to nothing about cars and driving in general. The second time, it had all these drug questions and stuff about people riding on bikes which I didn't study since it seems stupid at the time to think that would be on a test. By the third time, the questions re-appeared from previous tests, and I remembered the answers. They are now taken on a computer and they give the answer where I live.
Then... the driving tests themselves. Also keep in mind my parents signed me up for hours upon hours of tests by private driving instructor against my will. So, I probably should have passed, but the reason I failed the first time is now always a funny "remember that time" moment. I drove the entire test with the emergency brake on. The whole time it was BEEP BEEP BEEPING and I had no idea what was going on. It was my instructor's car, and I never had to pull the thing before. So, when I pulled the brake apparently it didn't click and was not disengaged. I asked the test person what in the world was going on, and they said they never heard of the problem either... which was of course a lie. Ugh... I thought the car was breaking or needed oil or something. Then, the second time, I failed because I took too long to park. I gave up at that point (Spring 03).
