I used to use the crossfader an awful lot when I started and my mixes actually turned out almost as good as they do now that I only use the EQ's. I don't use the crossfader at all, and hardly ever use the channel faders, I just bring the cued track in real low and then work the EQ's. One thing that might help, when I want to do faster transitions, if I'm playing harder stuff, then I'll make drastic changes during the phase kick. I gradually work the EQ's during the loop, then I'll really cut back on the outgoing EQ and bring in the incoming EQ (Sometimes it'll be High/High, sometimes High/Mid, etc.).

What you don't want to do, is make quick EQ shifts during the loop, because it will really sound out of place. Work with the two tunes, feel them out, and bring in sections of one song as the sections of another start to fade out. It's easy to get the basics down, the hardest part is really knowing your tunes and when certain parts cut out/come in, so you can make the appropriate adjustments on the incoming track.

Hope that helps, and more importantly made sense.

so you start with all the eq's on 0 on the incoming track then gradually bring them in when they fade out on the other song? damn u must have to know the songs really well for that. i have so little vinyl to play with tho, im savin for the djx700, then some cd decks but when i get it all wooohooo! il b on them non stop.

and yea i mix like a god when stoned lol

I mix like a god on either beer or coffee

hm, the DJX700, a very decent machine...

I sometimes use the EQ's to fade a track in, but, you don't want to do that too much, 'cuz, if you do it 2 times after eachother, the mix sounds pretty boring.
Or, I use them to bring in particular parts of the song into the mix, so that the hearer recognises the incomming song, and then, on an appropriate time, I bring the incomming track fully in.

It was only for the vid, else it wouldnt fit on it

Anyway, one of the secrets is to switch them fast, knowing ur tracks (if the mid/low/hi is louder than the other track) and knowing how to EQ them. This is different with any track, but its allways the best to do it fast (else ur kicks will phrase and make weird sounds).
When I throw in a record,I usually have only the mid,or the mid/hi open a bit,or full. Then I throw them in untill vol. 8 (my mixer goes to 10).With this you dont hear much of the incoming track, but enough to fully throw it in smoothly

(This is my way most of the times, but also allot of times I use other techniques, just which comes up to me at that moment )

good luck
