Traktor and programs like that are not what I'm after... If I want to actually mix, I'll use my turntables... What I'm looking for is software to set a mix up exactly... It looks like cubase and acid are the ones I'll be using....
Thanks for all the info.

cubase is the way to go, if that is what your doing
What you would have to do is record one track at a time.
When you have track 1 recorded.. cue up turntable and beatmatch to recorded track make adjustments on pitch and eqs. Well, the equing you can do with the prog, but the pitch cannot be adjusted, cause then it is adjusted on the whole track, so there is no pitch bending as far from what I know.
Ive never done a mix like this myself, but my causin used to do cds of top forty stuff and sell them to retail store owners.
He thought this was a good method of doing remixes with like vocals and multiple samples of different tracks.

As far as what pros use... they use protools software with a protools controller.. cost thousands of dollars, very expensive.

edit: not all pros use pro tools for recording compiliations and mixes... Their are or were some who do it by turntable, try, try, get it right type thing. I remember talking with Cor Fijneman and I was asking about that, since he did a In Trance We Trust compilation for Black Hole. He told me that he had to record until it was done right.

Something none of mentioned is using both computer and DJ gear to make a great mix. What i do is record my scratching, effects, and beatmatching if possible and save them to .flac and mix and perfect them on ACID PRO but i guess everybody has their own syle

peace

I figured I'd just add to this thread rather than create a new one, and my internet is slow right now so I don't have the luxury of doing a search for similar threads, so I apologize beforehand.

Okay, I use Traktor DJ Studio 2.0 and Soundforge 6.0 for mixing and recording.

I finally figured out that my SBLive card has duel outputs, main and rear, etc. which traktor can utilize so you can listen/preview tracks on the rear output (connected headphones to that).

However, when I record, Soundforge catches both the main and rear outputs, which is not what I want. I tried messing with Volume Settings on Windows, ie the Recording options. "What U Hear" is obviously not what I want, that catches both outputs. All the other options, Tad-in, line-in, wave/mp3, microphone, cd-audio (just listing them, not omitting), etc. I get 0 sound in Soundforge (dead-air).

Any help here?? Or if you don't know soundforge, can you recommend a program you know that solves this problem?

If you have other questions about my setup that you need to know in order to help fix this, just ask.

I guess one idea might be to go out and buy a second sound card. I'm just a little short on cash lately.
