well, this was my first big dance festival (we dont have em in the US like this) and it was F#cking wild. so many nice pretty peoples, such good tunes, and all the djs had really good sets.
i got there very early and heard On the Wire, Nick K, Johan Cyber, Fred Numf (for a bit), the substitute guy for Bad Boy Bill (marin something?), Armin, James Zaibela (for a bit), hybrid live, bad boy bill, sander K, ferry, Don Diablo (for a bit), Filterheadz, Umek (for a bit), Marco V, JXL, some Yoji and Tom harding, Sis Bliss, and some Tiesto. and somewhere in there some of deep dishes set over lunch.
my fav had to be Ferry. like two years ago i couldnt get enough of his trance nation stuff and always wanted to see him. i finally saw him and he played middle of the day in a tent (not the main stage) and it was packed, loud and he threw down a great trance set, not too cheesey. notable tracks were Traffic, Ligaya, and Rock Your Body Rock, which i kinda liked.
agreed very much so with wilkman (i think i met) that zaibela was off the hook. he was scratching the shit out of something on his Pioneer 1000s and it sounded unique and very good. i wish i had caught more.
junkie xl live was good too. he played the tracks i'd wanted to hear, but they were exactly how they sound pressed. dont think he does anything but press play on his sequencers. somnambulist (JXL dub), Matrix - Take the Red Pill, and BEAUTY NEVER FADES. i think dirty sticky floors too. some good stuff.
hybrid live was like a rock concert but the sound was all hybrid. it was pretty incredible. highlight here had to be unfinished symphony/finished symphony. (introduced as just 'symphony'). they closed with that.
filterheadz i only caught the last two tracks but they played sunshine. the drummer dude was going nuts keeping up and it sounded Money.
marco v and avB also had really good sets. marco dropped his By The Way mix and Electronic Malfunction, which i was more than happy to hear after i missed Ton TB at 10AM. i finally got to hear AvB's Motorcycle Remix. it was a great trancer, though i like the more proggy sweeping strings/g&d versions. place went nuts for that and also for Traffic. both of their sets were flawless and really good.
i never saw or heard anything Yoji before, and i didnt really like him. same with Umek, i was excited to here some Umek but didnt really like it. tatgirl said the end of his set was really good.
d. diablo played new order - confusion, which was money, as well as a remix of Sean Paul - Get Busy. felt like i was in philly
hmm, sister bliss dropped scumfrog mix of sunshine and some mix i've never heard of Insomnia, which was good to here.
Tiesto was good from what i heard. Traffic, again, though, but it was almost nostalgic at that point.
Oh, I also got a picture with Ferry, which tatgirl has on her digital cam, so i will post when i get it. that was the true highlight of the day.
so happy i went ;D ;D
