It'd be good for ripping your vinyls too. You could buy a new copy, rip it to wav file with an audiophile soundcard, and have a pristine copy to play with final scratch. Best of all, you could still consider the original vinyl, "unplayed" because a needle had never touched it.

Looks like a cross between an old-school VCR and a LaserDisc player. That's pretty ugly...

I have no idea how the CDJs work but wouldn't it be possible to do the same thing with these turntables now? Wouldn't you be able to build it such that the top part of the case could be turned like the CDJs?

Hopefully they find a way to do it and make it affordable. Maybe it's just wishful thinking by me. =)
