Seriously, John Digweed had the right idea, what did he do. He made a 2nd MMII mix. He sold it over internet for people to d/l from the website.

that was an April Fools joke.

Personally I think you're a little bit naive if you think file sharing is just going to go away because the RIAA wave their big stick about. There are an aweful lot of people using the internet; don't think at least one of them with some progamming savvy's going to think the RIAA tactics are bogus and perhaps develop an undetectable P2P program with 128 bit encryption; spy on that won't ya! For good or ill file sharing is here to stay. The only way to stop it is to shut down the internet.

If the record companies are losing millions they'll get no sympathy from me; they've been ripping off artists and consumers for years. $30 dollar CD's less than $1 of which goes to the artists - now that's criminal.

The file sharing phenomenon has already reduced the cost of music online enormously with iTunes and buymusic.com selling singles for less than $1US - definately an improvement. And iTunes is making a ton of money atm to boot. Personally I'm hoping there will be a day when I can avoid the middle men and send my money directly to the artist. Certainly there's no chance of that happening while the record companies have full control.

But that was just a dream, That was just a dream, But that was just a dream, Try, cry, why try? That was just a dream ,Just a dream, just a dream, Dream

Ahh the joys of dial-up...

Guess the ISP's don't really care about what you download from where, and it's much easier to jump ship if things do get bad.
