Does anyone know how many oakenfold has?
I heard he has the most out of any DJ or something.
Read it somewhere...
Whatever - I haven't heard an oakey set or seen an oakey show anytime lately... but I know hes still touring.

Agreed... there is not enough said about him (Oakenfold). A true pioneer of the trance scene as we know it.

I have in the region of about 2000 at the moment but would probably have more if I didn't get rid of all the crap you get from mailing lists.

(I think the worst record I was ever sent was the speed garage version of "Slam dunk the funk" by Five"). Needless to say, filling out the response form on that was a blast. I would also like to emphasise that I did not hang on to this one...

Cheers
Nem

2000?
how long have you been at it for? at least a few years I'm guessing.
Is it hard to get on mailing lists (even if most of the records are glorified coasters)?

Hey Chavez,

I have actually been doing for a long time. First time I touched a set of decks was in about 1986 (Makes me an oldie ). I think if I didn't filter out he crap I would have in the region of 10'000 (guesstimate) by now.

To be honest it's very rarely that I actually get sent anything that I will play out. The test pressings for the good stuff are only really sent to the guys who are at the very top (Oakenfold, Corsten etc.)
But yes... you have to prove that you are playing out on a regular basis, doing the odd radio show here and there will help too.

That's the sad thing about too many record shops (Not the online ones), they will try and fob you off with any old cack if you are young and keep a lot of the promos for the guys they know. But if you get a job in one, you will have access to someof the better stuff out there. A lot of DJs get sent the wrong stuff and will usually come and trade them for stuff they want so you would be in a good position to get your hands on some goodies.

Cheers
Nem
