Anyway the point of this is not whats ahead its whats now and what nvidia is doing. They are cheating.. even a 9600 can pull jack on a 5900 fx. Thats whats this thread is about.. I don't care if nvidia is making another hardware the case here is that Nvidia lied and cheated and shows that the FX suck crap against the radeons. There is no excuse on that.. if they are saying because of the XBOX then well they really did screw themselves over because thats cheating everyone into buying their stuff and they don't care about the performance or how the games should go as long as it meets a standard requirment. Ati made nintendos graphics card while they were making their radeons so I don't think thats an excuse for a setback in Nvidia's production.

Nvidia had their chance to pull the FX ahead but it failed.. I myself looked forward to the 5800 FX, but man seriously two pci slots and didn't even slay the 9700 and it sounds like a vaccum. Look at the 9800, same architecture with a better fan now tell me whois thinking straight here. They have no excuses in saying oh cuz of this and that we were left back they had more then enough time to come up with a better card but they.. :wacked out: And that my friend is why I got pissed off. Notice they are more heavily on their marketing. You see Nvidia in every single damn page of a magazine. Ati has like one or 2 and thats it.

ummm.........the nv35 is the fx5900. the r360 comes out sometime this month with hl2 and is high recommended by the people who design Hl2. the game was running on a radeon9800 pro during the E3.

And the 9700 pro has tested slightly lower than the GeforceFX 5900 Ultra. ATI is much better than Nvidia. The benchmarks prove it. The 9800 pro(128mb) out did the 5900 ultra and the 9800 pro(256mb) is going to beat it by a wide margin and it still has a lower clock frequency than the 5900 ultra.

I'm a linux newbie and I find the ATI AIW Radeon 7500 works best with Red Hat 9. I tried Mandrake and Red Hat for a Geforce 4 MX and I get super slow gameplay for UT and Q3.

Is there a way I could configure X to work the card better or is it just a shitty card this Nvidia?

My R9700Pro rapes the 5900

Server ...enough said. The next windows client version wont be out until next year or 2005, code named Longhorm. Actually you do know that most server motherboards come with ATI video onboard? if they werent stable they would obvisouly not be there, and just use intel's onboard video.
