I do actually talk pretty much once I feel "safe". I just detest small talk which is only there for the sake of saying SOMETHING, ANYTHING. I feel automatically blocked in such situations...

it's a state of mind. just recognize that small talk is your road to common ground where you can stop bullshitting. if you can't find the common ground, then she sucks and you can just hope she's looking to get laid.

very true. i'm always more impressed with people when they don't feel the need to talk all the time. i talk as long as i have something to say (which tends to be a lot because my mind moves about 800 miles per second), but when i wear myself out it's nice to just shut up and not feel uncomfortable about it.
