Unfortunately Isabel is a category 5 hurricane, the highest you can get on the scale, adn stronger than hurricane andrew (category 4). Mix this in with the fact that the projected path are taking it on a sweep through D.C., baltimore, and possibly NJ, maybe even NYC, that its very slow moving (9 mph), and we're looking at a serious fucking problem here... currently the sustained winds are at 150 mph. Of coures this is only at the eye, but even the edges of it carry 50+ mph winds and can drop tornadoes anywhere, as well as a shit load of rain.
The good news is that earlier predictions had it first moving due west, then on a curve towards the SC/GA coast, and now on a very sharp curve north, so maybe it will curve out even farther and just blow out to sea.
