meh i doubt u'll find any nation with a perfect immigration system. Every group of people are gonna have their bad apples.

Not at all...

The "hinderers" (and this is just my opinion) are the ones that come to this country and can't seem to intergrate or care to abide by our laws or culture.

So what is our culture is the next obvious question.
We are a country made of immigrants right?
True.
I'd have to say that I have just as many 'immigrant' friends as I have 'Canadian' friends and I love their culture, worldly views and FOOD!! (Big ups on the food part)

Then there are the ones that have been here for like...20 years and don't know anything past their own neighborhood.
I'll site a specific example for you because I didn't believe it either...

My wife went to B.C. last year to visit her Dad who is on Vancouver Island.
Before she went, she visited her God Mother (a nice older Italian women) and mentioned to her that she was going on this trip.
The husband overhears this and starts asking about the monkeys and kangaroos.... I swear to God... lol.

Sure, he pays his taxes and contributed to society, blah, blah, but wtf?? hahaha...

The "hinderers" as you call them are the people who have been born here, who sponge welfare off the government because they're too fucking lazy to get off their ass....and this is from my own observation...I recall hearing a " natural Canadian" say, I make more money than my friend who works by living off welfare

I'm an immigrant to Canada, and I know many of them, none of us are "hinderers" to the country or to the economy because we come here to make somethign out of ourselves from the misery and the shitty places we were living in....

nobody is perfect as someone said, everyone has their bad apples...

and as for the US being a better place for having less immigrants, well then come here and live and find out for yourself.....Americans are selfish an only care about themselves and their country, nobody else.....and im not basing this on Bush or the government but off people I have met here already.....its a pure capitalist country where the poor eat shit and the wealthy get wealthier....great country!

i believe the US actually loses more money from social claims to illegal immigrants per capita than Canada does or so I've heard.

dido!!

omg!! don't even get me started on this topic!! there is no so-called 'natural' canadian. canada is an immigration country and immigrants are the ones who make/ have made this country as we know it -despite the fact that the first settlers just 'veni, vidi, vici', on the expense of the human rights of our aboriginies. noone ever asked them!
just a couple of random thoughts:
...and today, even though our lovely mr coderre tries to change and overhaul the existing, outdated immigration laws, he does not look out for the future of 'our' country, and he especially does not look out for those who most desparately and genuinely need protection!
...canada needs immigrants for a flourishing economy ...and yes, hence the most recent change > the decrease in the famous point system to qualify as a 'skilled worker immigrant'!
we've got enough space! we should choose to look at our similarities rather than our differences! we have the chance to change what other western european countries have done wrong.
Canada has been chosen as the #1 country 4 years in a row by the United Nations. Let's keep it that way!

moonshine, you want away from 'Immigrants'?

move to the prairies.

Im starting to get homesick. only 12 weeks till I go home tho.(for 2 weeks)
The people Im meeting are nice
the rest of the city sucks. I have only met 2 nice people in any service industry since I came here. One was a taxi driver, the other works the front desk at a hotel.
That taxi guy got a fat tip.

but to Disko-Kandi, we lost our #1 spot this year, I think we slipped to 4, behind all the scandanavian countrie(I think..not certain)

anyways, I love Canada. eh!

that's part of the problem .. the areas of Canada that need immigrants the most aren't getting enough. They're all choosing to move into the already crammed urban centers ie. TO, MTL, and VC and it's creating a saturation of skilled workers in places where there aren't enough jobs for everyone. it's why some of you might find it so hard to find work these days because of the over abundance of qualified professionals we hav in this city. Seriously there are so many opportunities out West and in the Maritimes where they desperately need an influx in population .. but the problem is that people here seem to be too content, and stationary with their surroundings to want to move..

i think it's a comfort level thing.. but eventually something will hav to give ..

I for one would not hesitate to move to the west coast if I could get a better job there. I'd miss the Toronto scene and TOTA, but I think that's just about all I'd miss! J's right, this city isn't such a friendly one... and it's so hard to find work... immigration is good for our country in theory, but the poor way it's handled by the Canadian government gives it a negative impact in practice (IMHO of course).

And that's awesome...

but you're right...there are lazy-ass ones here already too...

It's not about where you were born, it's about what you're doing with your life NOW...

Do it.
Do it right.
Do it right now.
