This is what I know of the situation. I've no sources on hand so take it or leave it. 
Fire & Ice cover JMJ's track. Shane 54 has a go at remixing it. F&I/the label/whoever doesn't like it and says they won't press it. Not to be deterred, Shane 54 releases it as his own seperate cover, which is perfectly legal.
And I won't argue further about the Shamu thing, I think tor8024 summed it up well enough. Hadi's right anyway, they're both great songs, enough said.
