Some of these aren't ripoffs necessarily but "remakes." If you think they're shitty remakes, then say that, but saying that they're ripoffs IMO isn't right.

'Scooter - Weekend' is a ripoff
'Ravers on Dope - Hardcore Vibes' is a remake

Remakes are supposed to take the original tune and make it newer and better, hardly ever is the case though...originals should usually be left alone.

As I said before, Fire & Ice - Souvenir De Chine & Shane 54 - Souvenir De Chine are both covers/remakes of the Jean-Michel Jarré track of the same name.

It would be like saying that DJ Tiesto's remix of Adagio for Strings was a cover of Ferry Corsten's Remix.

i dont think it is a coincidence. best shamu came out in 98. first time i heard strange world i thought of shamu. not to say it is a bad song or anything, i think it fuckin owns.

This is what I know of the situation. I've no sources on hand so take it or leave it.

Fire & Ice cover JMJ's track. Shane 54 has a go at remixing it. F&I/the label/whoever doesn't like it and says they won't press it. Not to be deterred, Shane 54 releases it as his own seperate cover, which is perfectly legal.

And I won't argue further about the Shamu thing, I think tor8024 summed it up well enough. Hadi's right anyway, they're both great songs, enough said.
