My thoughts on the night
*Vinylgroover was OK - kept things interesting, played more or less uplifting hard trance
*MIKE is the king of trance. Period! His set was a killer, played great a selection of stuff - finally some driving underground trance without the predictable breakdowns. First time I have ever seen a DJ get on the mike at the end of his set and thank the crowd
*Best moment of the night/year/decade... - MIKE playing the extended original version (i think?) of Universal Nation to close his set... I still have no words to describe just how good it was
*Marco V set was also very good, played very technoey/tech-trancey. Had very nice progression and building to his set, however the fire alarm midway thru his set just fucked the whole thing up - such a pity. Hopefully he'll make a return to perth after that debacle, you could see after we were let back in he wasn't very happy
*BK - was obviously talented at hard house music. But all I have to say is what an utter load of dumb-boring-nonsense music he played. The occasional hard house track is bearable but 2 hours of this garbage at 4 in the morning just did my head in.. Its like banging your head against a brick wall 160x a minute!! I feel everyone in the room was made dumber after listening to this shit
*Overall - best night I have had in ages; MIKE and Marco-v were as good as you could expect to hear. Hard House is bad. Fire alarms are bad. Sweaty shirtless posing gurners are bad too. Atmosphere overall was excellent. And correct me if im wrong but i think finally the production team have started use Milkdrop/Giess up on the big sceen - look at all those pretty fractals...
Lastly I agree with you Huebor - the barstaff needed a kick in the teeth, they were utterly hopeless - plus some didn't give out caps with the bottled water!! I thought that practice was somewhat against health regulations
