Thanks a lot, TAs~!

All the "Cheeseheads" comming out of the woodwork...

LoL just kidding... i remember hearing Corona "Baby Baby" and thinking "I could NEVER get tired of listening to this!"

'97 was a great year - I got my E-Rotic CD with songs like "Give Me Delight" and "Don't say we're through" (Felix Gauder production - also heard as "Bad Boys Blue - Out of the Blue") Fancy's album, DISCO came out and bunch of other stuf... Hell, I was cleaning out my room at my mom's house last week and found bunch of my old tapes - all of them are Euro... Jam and Spoon - Right in the night, Modern Talking / Blue System (ok, that's cheese) and crapload of others.

But the funniest revelation... As you remember, '97 saw an emergence of what we call "trance" now, spurred (in my opinion) by Robert Miles "Children"... So, you started to see compilations like "Dream Dance" with actually classic tunes, some of them are still banging' today. For example, take any of the tracks by Red 5, or Disco Citezens, or Future Sound of London... Well, I found one of the "dream" compilation CD's, circa '97 that had PvD's "Seven Ways" on it. I didn't even realize it!!!

But if you want to dig really deep and far and old - how about

Laserdance albums? What about Koto? How about Jean Michelle Jarre - those are the pioneers of Trance... And to think that JMJ is considered "New Age"!!! New age my ass!

ok, enough reminesscing for one day... MUST.GET.IN.MOOD.FOR.ARMIN!!

I grew up the loft, the real mcCoy,

i agree with it being good because it didn't pretend to be trance.

I don't get off it now...but do recognize that it was a gateway to electronica (in general)

one shit I hated though was
anything by the Venga boys

Corona was the best - I think I had like all of her CD singles.

Mauro Picotto used to produce for the eurodance group Cappella back in the day too.

I see a pattern, quite a few producers got into Trance from EuroDance/Hi-NRG/EuroPop... I think the evolution went like this:

Eurodance>>>>Boy do I feel gloomy today...Hmm... let's play something darker with deeper base, but not housey>>>Pizzicatto Music! Whoa!! >>>How about little darker, with gated strings >>> Hey, look it's 1999 time to party like (wait for it) it's 1999! >>>> Enter golden age of Trance as we knew it, sans Alice DJ... (<

that's my take on it. BTW, bakerloo symphony by M.Piccotto rox... even today...
