Customer service has been okay... average really. Not outstanding. I have emailed them twice (with no reply) in regard to the fact that on any order I've had with 2 or more vinyls, they mysteriously add 1 penny to the total, and the order list doesn't add up. It's hard to notice unless you really look at it, but it's there. Also, I know it's only 1 penny, but it's the principle of the thing, and if they are doing this on every order it will definitely add up for them. So yeah, no response from them on that issue at all. Wankers.
Royal Mail always delivered within about a week to me in the USA, and I agree that lately their shipping has sucked hardcore... 2 - 3 weeks these days.

tis a good point about supporting the local stores. My recent order fron chemical was placed mostly because of about 3 samplers they had that i couldn't find locally. 3 1/2 weeks later I got my records, about 1 1/2 weeks after those samplers were in stock at vinyl warning. I would have had the records sooner, at the same price and with much better service. not always going to be the case, but i'll at least ask vw if they can get stuff before I order from o/s again
