Maybe they're a DJ as well? I use my HDJ1000s with my Minidisc all the time, and I've known at least one other dj to do the same with the pioneers, and even more with the mdrv700s. After listening to those I don't wanna use those shite ones that come with the players.

I also have the technics 1210s.
Although I've never owned any other pair of headphones anywhere close in price range, they seem great other than that they "crush" your ears like a wrestler/boxer "helmet/head guard thing" if you have them on for too long, like 5 hours or so, such as when I play computer games.

They are also extremely uncomfortable when wearing glasses. Whenever I spin, I wear contacts anyway though, but you might want to consider that.

They are also smaller than most, and I use these everywhere.

I think if I were to get new phones, I would get some Senns or maybe some AKG (I thought someone posted some of those in here the other day).

had a pair of sony 700's for 2-3 years they were great but grew old and the pioneers came out.. so decided to try them out and i was sold. my reccomendation is to get the pioneers, but as someone else mentioned if you can try whatever cans you are looking at out and see what you prefer as far as you ear is concerened. some people hear diff frequencies more pleasantly (easier/harder) to the ear then others.

endo - you're not the same endo from L1quids are you?

How can you say that the guy's mp3s are crap without even knowing the bitrate at which the song is encoded?

I walk around everywhere, especially at school, listening to my digital camera/mp3 player with my technics 1210s. Its a fujifilm 2.4 megapixel camera about the size of my wallet, and i can store almost an hour and a half of 160kbs mp3s.

i am actually in the same dilemma about which headphones to get.. right now i am debating between the mdrv700s and the hdj1000s.. if anyone has both or has listened to both (more importantly used both while DJing), which has a more accurate bass? when i say accurate, i am referring to the timing. is it delayed in either? thanks.

No I'm not actually... And I guess you're right I was a bit hasty at saying his mp3s weren't that high quality I really had no idea of knowing. I guess I was too jealous to really care

And I think I've been spoiled by vinyl to go back to mp3s now...

Well... "accurate" is an interesting question here... many DJ headphones are known to have, ahh, "flabby", one-note bass... where the bass continues to resonate AFTER the signal goes away. This is the whuum whuum sound I'm talking about... if you want accurate bass, something that has tight and fast bass, you should look at some studio monitoring headphones like the Sennheiser HD280 Pro or the AKG K271S.
