Got a pair of Pioneer DJ-5000...

The sound is awesome, but they are a bit on the heavy side and become uncomfortable if you wear then for any longer than half an hour.

Got them a few months ago for $180

My bro has a pair of Sennheisers, they are by far the most comfortable headphones you will ever wear, and the sound is very good... not as good as Pioneers, but then again he got them for about $120... not sure what model they are though.

And both report cards came home with flying colours.

But generally expect to pay between $200-$400 for top notch cans.

i have these headphones too ~$250. i hadnt intended on having them but a few friends surprised me with a pair for my 21st. they're a great pair of cans. no complaints here, able to handle the power so there's no distortion, very comfortable espesh due to the swivel feature that allows you put the cup behind ur ear without havin ur headphones in an awkward position. sound, its plonk in the middle giving you enough in all spectrums. i'm a high-hats and snares sort of person when mixin, so i'll probably to lookin for something else later though. cant comment on durability however, as i havent played in a club environment nor abused them. i also have a pair of sennheisers hd212pro's ~ $100. they're very bass heavy [arguably too bass heavy] and comfortable. i mainly use it for portability + for my comp. some reviews comment that they are similar sounding to the sony mdrv700s.

choice of headphones, really depends on what you intend on using it for, and the sound u prefer. there's a headphone thread in the dj booth section. and check out www.head-fi.org if you're intention is just for listening pleasure. price of lot of equipment in aus i find is pretty inflated, so yea, it might be the smarter thing to order online.

Done know how well they would be for playing out though, cause of the cushy velvet that feels soo nice, it also cancells like 90% of noise out.

Cool, how much did the HP890's cost ya? And are they still available in Australia .. cause in google searching under australian links gave me sfa results

Also, any had experience with the Koss UR-20's and 30's?

Do ya mean the Koss headphones? Anyway, where abouts in Perth (or perhaps australia, by mail order) can i grab a pair of the Koss Ur-20/29/30's .. from all the audiophile-type websites, the 29 and 30's seem to get reviews.

these should be available in ur local JB.
the 20s and 30s i think are pretty poor, and most i've read think so too. some may be a lil gentler due to the appeal of the price. i havent heard the 29s, but i assume they use the same drivers. the UR40s look pretty neat. i havent heard them, but havnt read too bad a review. they're actually open cans, marketed as closed ones though which arent good for djin. are you looking for dj cans tho? or audiophile cans? and what price range?

edit: also, where are u reading these reviews?

I used to use the sennheiser hd200s but have upgraded to the hdj1000s. I've played out in them and have had no problems with them. They're about $250. Wouldn't mind trying out the hd25s though as everyone reckons they are the barra.
