IMO the best movie about drugs (or better: addiction) ever.
Has anyone seen 'Pi' by the same director?
no way!
blaaah. this movie gets waaaay too much attention and credit than it deserves. the movie was totaly overdone. everything bad that was possible happend to the main characters.
as this movie progressed i was turned off more and more by it. by the ending i was ready to turn it off.
the movie wasn't realalistic at all.
the main characters just got screwed over cuz they did drugs (namely heroin)
i would have liked it if the movie took a realistic look at things and delved much deeper into the psychological problems of the main characters which were causing them to be so severly addicted to drugs.
i hear the book is actualy really good tho
i did like the soundtrack and i thought the cinematography was really good.

they didn't realize what their dreams were. they chased "ghosts of a future lost", they were after the wrong things. the plot isn't that "amazing", but i still like it a lot for the "requiem for a dream" discussion.

why do people think that having $200 shoes and wearing a 400-dollar shirt with 500-dollar pants makes you important?
why do people rape?
why do people kill?
if everyone knew what they should do with life and what they should look for, we wouldn't have any problems then, eh?
it's just life. sometimes you simply don't realize that what you're doing may not be the best thing for you or the people around you.

this movie convinced me more than anything else that drugs are not good, and taught me to never do heroin

Just not, that's exactly what all those movies on that topic do. The result is usually a boring flick with endless dialogues and close-ups on the suffering faces of the actors. This one tried a different approach and it worked at least for me.

totally agree man...as ive said many times about this movie...it was just cheap shock cinema...it was disgusting in my opinion. everyone knows about coke whores and harsdore addicts, i dont need to see that shit close up. no class. there are plenty of ways of showing what they showed w/o the grafics of it...but noooo the avergage idiot has to be visually shocked by something to understand it...pure crap
it makes me so mad when ppl (directors) ruin perfectly good ideas
