I want to spin NOW. every month i bought just 1 record, to keep me from getting freaked out.
I saw at new-line.nl the intermediate set, which is 2 reloop rp4000 mk2 chrome, 2 x Ortofon OMB-5 Element, 1 x Gemini PS-626i mixer and of course slipmats, for 669 euro, ex the dustplates, and ex fixing the 'space'.
I thought this was reasonable, and as i have a butget of 800 euro, i can buy a good headphone too. But what do you guys think of this set. Ok, no 1200s, but is it worth the money? Please give your oppinion, your thoughts about this!

sandah sends his regards!

i think its a good beginnning turntable pack, but for 60 euro's more you've got a better turntable (rp-5000) and more torque! looks better more stable, and heard it was the best oem product of its class. But im also waiting for some more comments about this (or the rp-4000) turntable.

regards,

Bram

my first set of turntables were gemini pt-2000 III. it's the same as the pt-2400. if you can find either of those used in good shape you should be able to get them for a steal. their actually decent tables. a year later i upgraded to 1200's and having used both for an extended period of time the 2000 iii's or the 2400's are acceptable for "starting/mid-level" djs. they have really good torque. the platter action was really close to a 1200. the pitch slider was softer and the tone arm required a bit more weight to keep it as close to skip proof as an "s" shaped arm can get. but i got 2 of them for half the price of a new set of 1200s. if you can find a set in great condition used you should be able tot pick them up for about $250-$300 u.s. cheers.

p.s. nothing feels exactly like a 1200. long live the 1200!!!

My opinion for a setup for you:

Stanton STR8-90 Direct Drive Turntables (Pair) - 257.79 Euro
Behringer VMX-200 Mixer - 102.24 Euro
Behringer HD-280 Headphones - 85.9 Euro
Stanton 505 SK II Cartridge w/Stylus (Pair) - 51.52 Euro
Stanton Headshells (Pair) - 18.82 Euro

Total - 776.06 Euro (If you talk to DJ Tranz on TA, he can give you discounts on the products, from djmart.com)

Chances are you wont have to change the turntables and headphones (and headshells) for a long time because they are good stuff. Eventually you will upgrade your mixer and carts, so you dont need anything too expensive - and this falls right into your 700-800 range.

is not an s shaped arm but straight for scratching...i dont think its very handy if it comes to beatmatching...anyway the prices are very very cheap! the cheapest vmx mixer i've found is 149 euro's!

what do you think about the rp-5000?

thanx in advance,

Bram..

Right now the Stanton ST-100 is on sale at djmart.com for 214.79 Euro each. It has a curved arm. I suggest you buy this - its a steal.

Ive never heard of the RP-5000.

The only names in turntables I trust are Techs, Numark, and Stanton.

Check out ebay for turntables and stuff as well, here are a few tips about shopping on ebay to avoid getting scammed:

1. Make sure the there is a picture of the turntable being sold, and not a picture of the turntable that you would normally see on a website.

2. Make sure that the turntable is in working condition.

3. Make sure you get a legit serial number - chances are if the person posted a pic of the turntable being sold, he wouldnt mind taking a snapshot of the barcode and serial # for verification.

*4. Dont be afraid to ask the seller questions (How long have you had it? Approximately how many hours have been played on it? Have any parts been replaced? Do any parts need any particular attention?)

*5. Make sure the seller is a good seller. Check his rating (anything below 97% is unacceptable - any person with alot of minus feedback is unacceptable - any person with 2 or more minus feedback within a month is unacceptable). Read some of the feedback.

6. Try your best to identify the product as authentic - some Technics can be fake - I usually dont even look at turntables with replaced covers unless it is another authentic cover, its a liability.

This is as much as I can think of off the top of my head. I bought 2 Technics off of ebay - total cost $560USD/481 Euro

thanks m8! you're helping me a lot, what i want to say is, the stanton st-100 is a oem product! just like the rp-5000. The only differents is: that the st-100 is 100 euro's CHEAPER then the rp-5000 and it's got a better name . But what are the shipping costs to holland? i cant see that on djmart.com! (or im just stupid!)

thanx in advance, and thanx for everything guys!

regards,

Bram

Do this - Add the turntable to your cart, than change the quantity to 2 and update the cart - the price should be 499.90 USD - click on check out and enter in all your information - Select the country (there is no Holland - I assume Netherlands is the same thing), and select shipping type: international.

Click next, Im pretty sure it should calculate the shipping charge by the information entered. Go to XE.com and convert whatever the shipping charge from USD to Euro.

Im guessing that the shipping charge would be approximately 35-40 Euros each turntable. This isnt in stone - I could be wrong.

Private message 'DJ Tranz' and talk to him about what you want, he works for the website and gives TA members discounts on equipment. Tell him what you want, and give him your City, Country and Zip Code, and he will calculate shipping.

okay just to let you guys know, i have to pay a lot more then the 214 euro's for the decks! shipping costs, 19% taxes, and a lot of more b*llsh*t! so im thinking to buy the rp-5000 here in holland for 319 euro's (same deck only a other lay-out). What do you guys think of this 1?
