I do not know, i'd have to research into that area in order to find out. But I was saying that if they do exist, they are -most likely- a lot nicer than USB soundcards. After working on this USB development project for the past 10 weeks, I think i have gotten a pretty nice understanding of the whole thing. USB 2.0 is definetely not as nice as FW. And seeing how that soundcard is USB 1.1, it is wikked slow in terms of xfer rates. I understand that they 'claim' 11Mbps (~1.5MB/s) but that is only for a certain type of transfer. With that transfer type you won't get guaranteed delivery and that means you can loose data. If you need guaranteed delivery, 64KB/s is a more realistic figure to look at. That is pretty slow for real-time sound stuff, eh?

anyhow.. take a look around if you cannot find a nice firewire solution, or at least USB 2, before buying a 1.1 device.

i was thinkin powerbook but i doubt itll happen
in college ill want to play games, and games usually come out late or never for mac. so ill proly get an AMD notebook since they are cheaper then p4
can anyone recommend a good brand of laptops to check out? that are not too expensive but good stuff

the only games that would be playable on laptops IMO are keyboard only games... the mouses that come with laptops usually suck unless you decide to buy a new one for like 50$.. and don't even think about using the touchpad to play 3d-shooter games lol... doesn't work

I don't know if there are any sound "cards" available that use FW but both the Digi001 and Digi002 use FW as their main interface. They are pro audio I/O and are pretty pricey though.

If yer buying a laptop in the PC world I am keen on the Dell Inspiron 8500 and/or the 8600 becuase they have both a trackpoint and a touchpad. I love the trackpoint and hate keypads. They are running a $300 mail-in rebate right now that makes the base 8500 less than $1300
