PICS OR STFU!!!!!!!!!!!

I totally understand this, even though I don't have any tats, I used to have a lot of piercings, but I had to take them out for work (imagine that one!, and b/c my labret was rubbing my gum line down ) My best friends father (a guy who i respected a lot and vice versa, hell this fuckin guy wrote a letter of recommendation for me for college) saw my piercings and treated me like shit. We had a huge debate in where he could't justify any of his points and finally ended in his wife taking him into the bedroom as things got pretty heated.

btw this may be a dumb question but whats a 'sakura branch' pics/descriptions?!?!?!

If I enter a store and I am wearing clothes that cover my tattoos, I am percieved as a normal, nice, girl. I can return to that same store, with the same woman helping me, but instead, say, wearing a tank top that shows my tattoo on my back, as well as a trace of the one on my hip, and I get a whole nother story. I am one of "those kids that start trouble".
Not only are you judged differently, but you have to be careful in where you apply to get a job. Can you cover your tattoo? If not, say bye bye to that job. Tattoos are supposed to be a form of art and are instead, a form of discrimination. My own mother screamed at me "white trash" when she saw my first one. My roomates family member said to her "you better be careful with how many tattoos you get, you dont want to seem like white trash, i mean, youre not in a band or anything, so its unacceptable for you". wtf is that?
So anyway, my question to you guys- Any of you have tattoos? Do you get discriminated against? What are your personal views on tattoos?

Thats cuz ppl associated tatoos with criminals or gangs. Some gangs have their own tatoos, such as yakuza.

I have a tatoo, I did the design myself but in escense its a ying and yang, I wanted to put a libra symbol but it was too simple. and yes ppl look at me different if I'm showing my tatto (wich isn't often because its in the midle of my back between the "homoplates" SP?) I personaly don't care about the butterflies but it does matter if they did it so it could mean something not just like it or if its trendy. The tattoo near de breast no way looks totally bad...

Sure, after a while if you're getting a lot of detail work done, it will get "sore" as the artists hand rests on a spot previously done. But the soreness is to be expected if you're stuck laying there for 2+ hours with a needle going in and out constantly. But it's not painful in the least imo.

yes i agree with you!as i sad the pain or maybe better the idea of the pain is just in our minds isnt?but i will rather prefer to go with someone with me just to support to me or something and just to talk to me so if he do thats i wont think that i am having a tatoo and i wont think the pain!!!but you were right that the pain depends from the person who do the tatto to you!!!and sorry for my english mistakes!

back I think 200 er more years ago when the scientists of the day thought that the size of the cranium influences IQ they also thought that body type was a sign of the the person's personality.

SO they made many descriptions of smart people, retarded people, and criminals. They went said that all criminals also have tattoos, so automatically if you have one, you are a criminal. That is about where the bad stereotype started.

I think tattoos are very sweet, I was just at a place last night were I was the only one without a tattoo. I like looking at the art but I would never get one myself.

i have a full sleeve of color on my left arm (almost complete, 32 hours on it so far) and a black & white one at the top of my right arm. i'm an office manager at a place thats very slack about what you wear but i know when i interview for my next job i'll have to be wearing long sleeves or else like you said, i can kiss that job goodbye. but i knew this before i got it so i'm ok with that.

the only people who really discriminate people who have ink are usually older, ignorant people. as far as where i work i'm not the only one that has them down to my forearm and i probably get more compliments than anything else really. but i definately see where you're going with this, i had to take out the piercing above my eye when i started sending out my resume. it's a shame that we live in such a judgemental society.

that all depends on where you're getting it, some places feel almost just like a deep massage, some places you forget you're even getting tatted, then some places are rough as hell (the inside of you elbow where the crease is... rough stuff at least imo)

Yeah, tattoo discriminations is def prevelant in todays society. Esp in the work place. My friend with very visible tats encounter this all the time. It def changed my mind about where I am gonna get mine. I am glad to know that there is a misconception about pain and the tattoo cause that was def holding me back from getting one.

I've got two done - haven't really had any bad feelings towards them so far - more so curiosity, and the standard question: "Did it hurt?"
Planning on getting my left arm done too, it'll be more visible so who knows what reactions it'll bring up
Anyway, it's always interesting to see what kinda art people decide to get inked on them - the more original the better
