thats interesting. personally i like the vinyl, but it would be nice to keep them in good shape hehehe. i'd definitely use it if the sound quality is the same...thats great...

the only time i've seen somebody use final scratch was the filterheadz and they were shite. don't get me wrong the tunes were good but they just stood, there wasn't an awful lot of action going on.

however people like richie hawtin are apparently really good with the final scratch shit and have good crowd interaction as well.

I feel it kind a take a way what makes the dj. is his records & his mixing. any one can download mp3 but try to find that track on vinyl.

How does being able to look through a record crate make you a good DJ??? If I have the same songs just on final scratch or cd, it is the ability of the dj.... not how much time I spent looking through a record crate. If you're using final scratch in public, you would still have to own all those songs on record or cd, so they would have done the same crate digging.

I don't care either way. If I was at a club I probably wouldnt even notice I would be there for the music not to see how a dj puts out his music.

Final scratch makes it a whole lot easier to bring alot more music to a club, i mean the club i play at now i bring a bag of records and because i cant drive yet i have to use public tranport leaving me with a sore back when i get home

and yer final scratch runs on its own stripped down distro of debian. i doubt they will bring out a version for windows cause windows wouldnt be able to handle it really and the system would be locking up all the time.

if anyone knows how i can port fs to a non stripped down version of debian or even just mandrake gimme a pm.

I was kind of avoiding final scratch because I'm a little wary of relying on a computer in a live setting. Too many things could go wrong. But if Richie Hawtin uses it, thats enough to sell it to me.

final scratch

PVD used a lot in Toronto when we saw him. It sounds great to me but its kind of strange... a dj without vinyl. I have never used it so maybe I would like it if I had. I still like vinyl (just my opinion)
