On the other hand it got played by one of the warm-up DJs in the prog-room @ GK and one of my friends described it as "lullaby music". Hard to know what to think when someone puts it like that.....
I'd call the bassline bordering on funky...got that bouncy feel to it that I love about some of Porter's recent productions (amber remixes are a good example)

The SK remix or dub? Because the dub is one of the remixes of the year IMHO, up there with Chable's remix of You Are Sleeping

bassline is funky.

thing is porter is renoun (to me anyway) for his industrial soundin elements i.e. drum kit + percussion then the synths come in and voila, its prog trance. i'v always associated "funky" with house so *shrug*

was referrin to the sk mix. its not bad, i just think a lot more could have been done with it. totally new song without the vocals tho in the dub. still be better without his "yea" voice over if u ask me. dunno bout remix of the year tho. for total makeover, yea for sure.

thanks renegade for the extra names. will look into those producers/djs? always lookin for diff sounds.

edit:

my 1 contribution

lee cabrera - special
if u like that, also check out
layo n bushwacka - its up to u [lee cabrera mix]

oooh yay - good to find the other TAs who like a decent dose of funky driving prog that makes u just wanna let loose and do some bootay-shaking.....it's the style that's doin it for me the most atm....hehehe it's been responsible for a few embarrassing "caught car-dancing at the lights" incidents for me of late For me, trance has heart...prog has soul....and I'm luvvin my soul-food atm

Matt, u'll LOVE the new Sander album - I've listened to it every day for nearly 2 weeks and I'm not sick of it yet....it's just sooooooooo good......

As u already know, grab any Danny Howell's sets u can get ur hands on - he's my funky prog god atm, along with sander....

And like I told u last nite - check out www.progaddict.com - sad, but true *lol* Always lotsa good advice on where to go tuna fishin on there

My contribution = Legend of Talking Dog - My Shadow Dances (Red Jerry Disco Dog Mix) - don't get the original cos it's shite.....Slacker (another god!!) is playin this lots atm....I'm addicted to it for some reason - it's just so catchy

way to pick the most obvious one atm awesome track - kinda annoys me how EVERYBODY is grabbin it and canin it rite now tho - especially the DJs who wouldn't usually play a track like that....like Armin...almost fell over when he played it as the first track in 2nd hour of ASOT last week...i know i shouldn't make assumptions about why certain dj's play certain tracks, but sumtimes i get the feelin some of em play a track cos it's popular, not cos they're really passionate about it....and I can't quite picture Armin bein that passionate about Ride the way I could imagine DJs like Sander, Danny Howells, Lucien, etc etc bein passionate about it

btw it's spelled Chable & Bonnici - only sayin that cos tons of times i haven't been able to find a track on soulseek or wherever cos it was spelled wrong....

Another one I love atm is Big Black Boot - Vibrate (original mix)

yea ok, heaps cheesy. Almost as bad as Dj sammy

whats the big suprise about Armin playing it? He almost always opens with a prog track, usually the first two!

A few episodes ago he played Mathew Dekay - If i could fly. Now that isnt a huge prog track, its bloody good tho!
