I disagree, when you play out in a club or event your main goal is to excite the crowd, NOW when there is a song that everyone has access to then what makes that DJ unique?? Same goes for going to a event to hear bigger Djs, its not always the experience of feeling that a massive Dj is among yourselves, but more of that they will play songs that have never been heard of and in a different way, thats what makes the Dj unique...
Now say i've been searching for a song for ages (2 years) and when i do get it i feel so excited that among many people that there will be a small amount of people with this current vinyl, say it got repressed and a newbie Dj who has just started grabs the repress after 2 minutes of searching, won't that lost the value of dedication...
It's how you play and how you choose the song, if all Djs played the same stuff, what is the use of a second Dj. |
Yeah but a re-press isnt an original, the original is intrinsically and sentimentally worth more than a re-press.
Think of it in terms of CD burning. I have Ulrich Schnauss - 'Far away trains passing by', a rare album - only 3000 made I think. I have made copies for mates, increasing the amount of albums around, but that doesnt reduce the value of my original, because they are copies.
