There are sooo many great headphones one can get in the States... many under $100 USD... and yet everyone is going after Sony consumer lines..

*sighs*

Sennheiser HD280 Pro
Sony MDR-V6

And, a bit more expensive...
Sennheiser HD25
AKG K271 Studio
Beyerdynamic DT250-80
Ultrasone HFI-650

I've had Sony mdr-v600's, then I got HDJ1000's, and took them back a day later and now I have 700's. I couldn't be more happy with them. And for all the complaints people seem to voice, the mdr-v700's are the most widely headphone I have seen with big name djs. I have never seen any big-name professional dj use those Pioneer ones. I personally didn't like them at all.

That's because Sony pays most of the 'big name' dj's to wear their headphones.

WTF....... tons of really good djs use the V700s, tons of pretty good djs use the V700s, alot of the local djs in my area use the V700s. they work well for djing. the have alot of bass. you can juggle them around and wear them a bunch of different ways. the only draw back that i can see to the 700s is that alot of them crack, so i hear, and they are abit heavy. i have a set that is over 2 years old and they havent broken yet.
i'm not saying that they are the end all be all of headphones but they certainly dont suck. i dont know if sony pays djs to use these phones, i'm sure they must give some away for pros to use but even if they do, who cares? do you think that PvD, or John Digweed or Mauro Picotto etc. would use them if they sucked?

*shrugs* They're overpriced, they break easy, and they aren't a good value, that's all. Sure they *work*, but you can get better for your buck -- and, if you are willing to work with a different kind of sound, you can mix and beatmatch better with more accurate, less expensive headphones too...

I highly doubt that. It's not like it's a piece of equipment you can throw a huge Sony logo on to let people know what brand they are. With headphones, I think it comes down to personal preference....not endorsement deals.
