Why only the 7.71?

I thought this set was a lot better than some of the ratings it got. Then again I do like John '00's brand of somber, epic psy/progressive trance more than anyone else's style out there. IMO even though PVD get's the "god of trance" label just for who he is and how long he's been arround (I know he's kind of like the Goldie of the trance scene) I think John '00' Fleming has the most jaw dropping ambience and mystique to his sets, much more so than I've ever heard out of a PVD set. Who ever wrote about John '00' Fleming being unique is point on though. I'm guessing that's the reason for the low rating - either your really feeling it or you aren't.

Be Cool!

Hey fellow tranceaddicts! I have been browsing this site for about 2 years but once I tried to sign up but it didn work but I finally had to... and it worked!

so this is my first post

anyway I gave this set 10 because I thought it deserved more than the 7 rating! Some people dont understand how good it was because they werent actually there, or they just want cheesy choruses, I think if you guys were there you would be going crazy , the stereo headphones just dont translate it

also I am confused, I didnt kno that john 00 flemming was psy trance, I have his white label cd and its not psy much, this set is tho

It seems to me that he's always strattled the line between progressive trance and psytrance (with some sets much more as pure progressive and some in the other direction). Cool thing is even his psy is done with that main-stage progressive ambience and class rather than that campy b horror cheese that I tend to think of when I hear the term psytrance.

sound quality

Yet another set from overseas that sounds like it was entirely recorded with a "my first sony" tape recorder inside a toilet bowl.
Why do they insist on leaveing a hot mic above the crowd for the ENTIRE set? Maybe they think we won't believe that it was actually recorded live on stage unless we hear what is probably the 2 or 3 shirtless, sweaty guys that are at every party, tooting their fox-forty in there left hand, while hand-dancing with a glow stick in their left.
Maybe they are just worried we won't know when the good part of the song is on, so they pipe in the "Woooo-yyeeahh"'s and the off-tempo hand-clapping to cue us up, so we don't get confused while we listen to it while driving down lakeshore, listening to the set.

Other than that, the set' probably a great one.

mm.... this is one awesome set - the real regret is that it's only 53 minutes long, as I could stand several hours of this stuff. Back From Hell is especially nice =)

As far as crowd sounds and audio quality goes, well, maybe I am just perverse, but to me, the sound of the crowd in the recording is a really nice thing - it adds a lot of atmosphere to the set (and in this set, whistles and all - bring it on!). And in the same way, so does the "poor" sound quality - makes it feel more real. The sterile feel to a set which has no crowd and good audio can lack atmosphere. I do, though, see this issue from a bias/perspective of a computer geek who doesn't really get out, and someone who rarely gets to share their joy and love of trance with others around them (I did try #tranceaddict but it's not really my scene, and I can't get any bloody sense out of WebChat IRC now anyhow). So a good crowd in the recording helps in that respect. People with lives are likely to think otherwise :D

Either way, the set excels in what really matters to me more than anything - track selection :) I think we do indeed need more J00F sets :) whoooooooo!!!
