i dont want trance to die.. check my "title".. i throw monthly trance parties here in NYC.. but just looking at the top 10 of the dj poll shows that trance has become very mainstream.. and that worries me a bit cuz especially in the states, whatever goes mainstream, it turns to shit.. like what happened to hip hop after 97.. but im sure trance and edm wont reach that level in the states.. not for a while at least..

well if you are having a poll on who is the top dj you are really limited in your choices. I mean how many possible djs are there, trance, prog, DnB, house, ....someone complete this.

I mean who else are we gonna vote for on in that poll that would kinda prove that trance could be dead. So really this is not a tell-tale sign trance is not dead. Wow, that sounded like I think it is dead....which I know it is not.

I hope you see what I am saying.

Why don't you look further into what he is saying rather than trying to force your point...Tek does have a point: in a popularity poll, the top few are trance DJs...what does that tell you? I really don't think I need to tell you(and no, the answer is NOT "trance is not dying"...think harder).

Your argument serves no point and has no basis of fact. So quit your whining about how people think trance is dead because they know how to observe musical trends while you get off on popularity polls.

Using the DJ MAG poll to determine the validity/"well-being" of a genre is pretty silly. The top DnB DJ (Andy C) is ranked only at 71, so would you say DnB is dying? If you brought that up to anyone in the DnB scene they would laugh in your face. It's just about what is popular right now and what people are more exposed to. Between the top 3 DJ's, there are 2 new artist albums, one new compilation, the first 3 EDM DVD's ever released, and the first stadium concert performed by a DJ. When you look at Sasha and Digs, there are no new compilations, artist albums, or DVDs. They've mainly only been gigging this year, which means they haven't been broadening their fanbases like the top 3. Make sense?
