I remember reading a study (I'll have to see if I can find it) on how people who excelled with a musical instrument, excelling in other fields as well; had something to do with the way the brain works...

Does a turntable count?

played the piano when i was younger for about 7 years or so, but then slowly grew out of it, now i can't stand it...

i was a percussionest for 3 years. There was 4 of us in highschool band so we all switched. It was a headache between the stage ensemble and the regular band. Two different styles, so confusing. We had 1 drum set, a set of aux. percussion and a xylphone.
I was a drummer since i was 10. I stopped when i was 17 cuz i wanted to do other things with my spare time. ie soccer & track.

drums, saxaphone (LOVE PLAYING), claranet (fun to play), trombone(meh), piano (hated every min of my life for playing it)
