well , they are sound Generators..

like 3osc, ts404, wasp, simsynth.

but they are much better, and also requier more cpu usage(most of the times)

my advise is to stick with TA forum..use the Search button on this SECTION of the forum..

like, if you need to learn how a Compressor works, try search"Compressor"

if you seek FREE VST use search also, i saw some threads with free VST links.

Without VST's it is REALLY hard to make trance music of high quality.

Am playing with Fruity and Reason for about 6=8 months, and lately, i feel that i am improving, it takes time..

Boy does it ever. There's so much to learn when it comes to producing that there's no way you absorb all of the required information in a short period of time. As Massive84 said, read this forum extensively and exhaustively and it'll be a start. A lot of it is ear training and knowing what knobs to twist in order to get the kinda sounds you're thinking of.

what atmosphere effect are you talking about in Introspection ?

In same time, you must use good reverbs (but don't put it on a lot)
and use some good plugs like Spectrasonics Atmosphere !

cya

Question for Terry Bones.

What pluggins/hardware would you recommend?
Let's say I wanted to get something that would give me that 'trance sound'(For the want of a better expression) and was willing to spend a bit of money what would you suggest?

Thinking of the following:

Lead
Pads
Spheres

Thanks in advance

Go out and invest your money in a virus, you will have all the sounds you want coming from there, for trance at least...

Forgive me for sounding a little naive, but can you plug this into the midi port on your soundcard and then have FL using it (Virus C) as a synth module so that it will play the keys that you have selected in FL on the Virus?

Dumb ass and new

Dumbass??? Indeed...

No, I'm not an expert either, I even haven't got a hardwaresynth. But I thought when you connect your virus to your soundcard via midi, you can control the patches/sounds that are coming from it with midi signals. But when you want to hear the actual sounds the virus is making, you have to connect the outs of the virus to the inputs of your soundcard. So the actual sound is coming in as audio into your soundcard.
When you connect the virus to your computer with midi cables only you only have a sort of midi controller, which will not work that well for the amount you paid for it.

Hopes this helps.

Yes, If you buy the Great Virus C, you can use it on FL Studio, but you can only pilot it thru midi, so you need a REAL mixer and plug the virus sound output on a mixer's channel, and on an other mixer's channel, your soundcard, and found the fine mix beetween both... and repeat this with the real hardware (and assign a midi channel for each REAL synth module)

For good vst, I recommand:

Spectrasonics Atmosphere (very great pads, strings, ...)
Linplug Albino (for Synths, basses, ...)
Pro 53 and FM7 (a little oldy but great potential)
Z3TA+ (for all kind of pads, shpere, synths, basses)

For Gatted Reverb, I use a lot TK Datoreverb

but the better tool is Imagination and there is not a plug with Imagination stuff yet

Cya and good work !

Very interesting,

Thanks for that both of you, it's been most helpful. Now really I have to decide which to invest in. The mixer thing isn't a problem, been a DJ for a long time and have a Xone 464 with more channels than I can think of what to do with.
The thing that makes the Virus C more attractive is my CPU power not to mention some of the costs of the vst's. I suppose my next question would be which would be the most cost effective method of really brining my tracks to life? But then I guess that's a question of preference.

I actually have some things that I have genuinly been considering releasing as whitelabels to test the water but I feel that the FL sound alone can't meet the quality of sound on a release. Perhaps I am wrong about this but would like to know what you think.

Many thanks
Nem

Hello Nemesis44,

For the mixer, it's not the same that you plug your turntables that you need !!! it's not very well appropriated... but you can try to plug on it to see ....

For the mastering question, youmust use a plug like Izotope Ozone or T-Racks to reach a better quality (and with those plugs, you can put it directly on the master channel of FL Studio, if your CPU will support it )

Cya & good work ! we are waiting for your tracks !!!
