Not that I know of... 1210's are black, and I guess they have a voltage switch as mentioned above.

no, there is no difference between the 1200 and the 1210 except that there is a 110/220 voltage switch on the 1210. you can get either the 1200 or the 1210 in black or silver. you'll find a lot more 1200s in silver and a lot more 1210s in black though. it used to be that you could only get the m3d in a 1200 but about a year ago they released the 1210m3d. the m3d and the m3d-ltd are discontinued and replaced with the mk5 and mk5g. both are available as a 1200 or a 1210. cheers.

1210s are released in europe or any other place that uses 220v and 1200s are released in japan, north america and any other place that uses 110v. actually, my technics were shipped directly to me from japan. on the back of your techs by the serial number there is a country code that specifies what country they were manufactured for. mine are the only pair i've ever seen that don't have a country code. i have no idea what that means since even japan has a country code. oh well. cheers.

Didn't we just get done discussing how 1200 == 1210's ?

Actually, I've heard that 1210's start up just a BIT slower because of the additional voltage circuitry.

you know, i've heard rumors that the 1210's motor doesn't last as long or it's not quite as powerful because of the voltage circuitry but i don't think they're anything more then rumors. i've never been able to tell a difference between the feel of a 1200 and a 1210. nor have i ever known anyone who's had a 1210 to have any problems with the motor. i have a cert. in electrical engineering and i can tell you that the voltage circuitry would have no bearing upon the motor's performance as long as voltage the power supply produces is clean. in the case of the power from the 1210's motor not having a signal as clean as the 1200 the issue most likely would not be start up time but it would cause additional "wow and flutter" since the power would most likely fluctuate. i believe that the 1200s internals run on 20v dc power. there is a slim chance that the additional circuitry could cause premature failure of the power supply but i'm about 99.999% positive that it doesn't or after 20 years we would know about it and panasonic would have fixed it. in my opinion there is no reason to buy a 1200 over a 1210 and the only reason you would buy a 1210 over a 1200 would be that you needed to use your deck in europe. cheers.

Well, I've talked to a few who are certain that it slows the startup time by like 1/10 of a second, but then again, everyone knows how things like that are.

in the long run i think it is better to get 1210s because what if you did get good enough that someone from europe or asia wanted to book you? even if they do have their own decks over there, Its better to be prepared.
