Well, the postivie side on good mixed CD"s , is that you can play it and it takes you to the othe tune with the same energy growing and growing .. taking you to the next level, while on unmixed CD's, well , you have the chance of heaving the full edited tune, but the INTROS are sooo damm long, this are more for DJ's, since this tunes are intended to be Club , DJ friendly .. not for just listening, if you know what I mean . Both sides have the positives.
Great mixed CD's are the EUPHORIA series
Great SINGLE tunes series is TRANCEMASTER series.

One good thing about mixed CDs is that you don't have to listen to the entire tracks, sometimes 9 or 10 minutes long... listening to the whole thing gets kinda boring, plus it doesn't leave as much room for more tracks...
With mixed CDs, the songs get to the point much faster... you hear the best parts of the song without the long boring intro with nothing but percussion...

Plus, it's kind of interesting to see how the songs are mixed together sometimes...

its the fact that you are listening to the same mix between tracks over and over again that makes you bored of a cd after a while. when you listen to a dj at a club you can never get bored because you havent got a clue whats coming next, thats half the exitement for me, thats why people cheer 'yeah' when a good track comes on, they don't expect it. it would be good if there was some weird way that you could buy a cd and just pick the sequence of the tunes to be mixed, but there isnt. but then, thats why new mix cds are coming out all the time, firstly to make money but also to keep the clubbers interested outside the clubs.

Yeah agreed. I couldn't imagine listening to 90 mins of trance if it wasn't mixed. The whole thing with trance for me is that it takes you on a journey. I couldn't imagine listening to a track, then a pause, then another track. It'd be like a whole load of little peaks.

Yes I agree too with KristineClub. What you say is so true. Dj's job is mixing. Mixing make it one part. Otherwise it is just track after track after track. Mixing is good

After DJ'ing for a while, its really hard to listen to the end of the song. Whenever I listen to mp3's I usually change tracks before it ends. Just everytime I hear a song starting to breakdown, I guess I wanna hear another one starting up. The ends get so boring.

..........

I like continuous music....when I'm driving in my car I'd rather hear it mixed then to hear the music fade in and out.....unless it was a cd made by a producer....but a lot of my mixed cd's are live sets.
it's good to hear it live or at least, the dj that mixed the cd should add some effects......or to perform as if he would in front of a crowd....

and that's all I got to say about that......

I think you are all right...

I think KristineClub and her crew are correct in that they ARE DJ's, and they are supposed to make mixed CDs.... but i agree with the thread starter in that they are not to my liking. I LOVE live sets, but that is different to me, b/c you hear the crowd, the sound quality is not as good (which is better in this case), etc...

but the regular cd's mixed as one long set, for some reason just dont do it for me. i know, i know, they ARE dj's, they are supposed to make mixes, but i just dont like 'em. it just doesn't sound like a club. Not to mention, sometimes this happens:
(this has happened to me several times, and i'm sure it has happened to you) Where you get a new mix CD (cause there are a couple of songs you like), and lets say for arguements sake you like Veracoche - Carte Blanche, so you listen to that song on the CD all the time, but for some reason, the DJ you bought this CD of spins in Alice Deejay - Better off Alone right after Veracoche. (lets pretend the CD is over a year old)
This is what i HATE. right after the climax of Veracoche -Carte Blanche, i have to hear Alice Deejay kick in EVERY TIME I LISTEN TO IT. i guess what i'm trying to say is that sometimes the song the DJ mixes in is not one you would like, so then it sucks, b/c you have to hear it at the end of your track every time.

But this is really petty in all honesty, so forget it!

WHY DON'T DJ'S JUST SELL THEIR LIVE-MIXES IN STORES INSTEAD OF STUDIO-PRODUCED ONES?????? i can't understand why this hasn't happened? is there some law or something? they could make real money then....

To release a track on a cd, the dj needs permission from the artists label. It'd be a pain in the ass to get everones permission for all the records in a DJ's crate.

I guess it wouldnt hurt to record while they are mixing live and try to get permission afterwards.
