If i recall he didn't make a statement directly about the actual military (correct me if i'm wrong). I really don't see anything wrong with what he did. It perhaps was not very tactful, but there is nothing wrong with publicly expressing his opinion.

Hmm,So you didn't watch Jay Leno shortly afterward? Jay Leno asked every guest what they thought about it.They all had nothing good to say about him, and they all said they were upset because their parents and such had served and it was offensive to them..so on so fourth.

With freedom of speech comes responsibility. He had no right to get up there and bash the president,when he should be respecting him.

respect? lol hes just a politician, i have no idea why these military ppl feel the need to worship him... sadly being a dual citizen i have to do military service and i loath it,... being the tool of some politician behind a desk who sends me forward to do his dirty work.

I'm not trying to be mean, but it seems you don't fully comprehend the concept of "free speech." He had every right in the world to stand up there and say virtually whatever he wanted unless he was personally threatening someone. Was his spiel in bad taste? Perhaps, but you are certainly free to disagree with him. I can't imagine what kind of country this would be if the moralists censored all speech they found dangerous or undesirable; not that they haven't tried...
