Ok these are the earliest I could find in my collection.

The Beloved - The Sun Rising (1989)
Energy 52 - Cafe del Mar (1992)
Last Rhythm - Last Rhythm (1991)
Inner City - Good Life (1988)
Massive Attack - Unfinished sympathy (1991)

It appears the beginning of Trance lies in the early 90s

Cosmic Baby is Energy 52, I did not know that, learn something new everyday at Trance addicts.

Inner City was Kevin Saunderson and Paris Gray. It was re-issued in Spanish as 'La Buena Vida' around May 1999. Stacy Pulley and Carl Craig did some remixes for it.

No problem, and thank you for an interesting conversation, I thought this thread would have replies flying in, but it appears there are only a few of us contributing. .

I think this is a classic case of us theorists sitting back and letting you trance addicts discuss And ur right, you do learn something every day coz I didn't know cafe del amr was as early as '92.

Interesting thread, keep 'em coming.

Spad, It just show how amazing that song really is, doesn't it, any trance Dj could drop that song in just about any set and it would fit perfectly.

The earliest productions I could find for Jam El Mar/Spoon are 1994, if I'm wrong someone correct me.

I also think beroshima is on to something with Orbital.

When did FSOL start producing tracks? Papua New Guinea was early (1992)

Inner city - good life
you mean the track with vocals by Karen Rameriz ?
i think thats how u spell her name but could be wrong . . .

" Good life, good life, always a good life, good life, good life " etc etc etc ?

if thats the track u mean, u consider that as early trance ?

How about Leftfeild & Lydon - Open UP
or
The Prodigy - Skylined
Skylined is a great track. from the Jilted Generation album.

Someone Mentioned Pink Floyd ?
well Floyd were classified as rock but to me they are the godfathers of Trance . . . some of their stuff is amazing ! and fits the trance genre perfectly (IMO)

Anyone heard of the Ozric Tentacles ?
woah from 1989 onwards they were playing trance of a sort, some of their live gigs woah amazing !
