Well said. All the extra toys look cool, but aren’t actually needed. And all this extra “creativity” argument is rubbish. If you go into a club, nine times out of ten they have bog standard 1210’s. Plus, the more gizmos you whack in, the more chance of a technical fault. Besides, a skilled DJ with two copies of the same track can do twice as much as an average DJ with a feature packed deck.

I've got Technics M3Ds, and if you ask me they are perfection encased in a turntable!

Spot on.
From my perspective it's great that there is an industry standard. I wish the same were true for mixers. Only once in my life have I turned up at a pre-club bar and they didn't have Techs and that was only because they had been broken into and these were the temporary replacements.

Besides what else can you think of that was made in the early 70's (Just like me ) that still works today? I sold some 10 year old 1200's and still got good money for them. They worked just fine.
Let's face it, how long did it take the competitors to make anything half as good?

You also hear about these so called features on a lot of the rivals and most of them are actually just gimmicky crap.

I have been using MK2s for as long as I have been DJing (With the exception of my first year or so). Now you see the other Technics TTs too but still the most common is the MK2.

Just my 2 Euros worth.

I agree on what people are saying about the Techs, why do you need anything else, if I got the TTXs, I would never use any of the features, maybe mess around with them for awhile, but never use them after that, the more crap in a deck the more there is to go wrong, I just want a solid deck that holds pitch, and the Techs do EXACTLY that, and as for the torque side of things where people say well the TTXs and such have more torque, I personally don't care, and don't want any more, honestly, the deck is kinda hard enough to slow down when beatmatching, let alone having to battle 4.5k of torque, just so people know, I ain't dissing the TTX, I do think its an awesome deck, but for me, it has always been Techs and will always be Techs, but to each there own.

I bought a pair of mk2's when I started so they are what I learned on and still play on. I also had the priveldge of playing on the mk5's, wow they are sensitive. I barely touched the record and the whole platter stopped. Well I only played on em for .5 hours but they were sweet as hell.
