I have a 1st generation iPod and its dead. Software problem though not the battery. I have to send it to San Fransico to get it fixed cause apple hasn't for some reason enabled other rapair plaaces em.

I know of this problem, but it's only applicable if you run the battery to dead everytime you use it.
