So are you an expert on midi?? I didn't think MIDI was still used...I mean, those default sounding midi instruments are useless except for video games aren't they? (excuse the ignorance)

Im fair from an expert! But....

The software I use to produce music with is Reason, within reason you can import MIDI files, once imported Reason will places the notes in the sequencer for you. It will not play thoise stupid MIDI presets, but rather let you rearrange the notes and do whatever, you can then apply whatever you wish to the notes, subtractor synth, NN19 Sampler, etc.

oh...so the sequencer program uses MIDI format but you basically playback through a MIDI compatible synth.
