Yes for heroin it's true. That's how the terrorists and warlords fund their operations. I think most pot that's in the US is locally grown or from Canada and Mexico/South America. I was surprised to learn that the biggest export of Canada to the US is not lumber, not maple syrup, but weed.

-Edit I meant to say terrorists and not Taliban. The Taliban cut back Heroin production in Afghanistan quite a bit.

From my experience, the more often my mom comes to me about 'drinking responsibly' when I tell her that I went out and had two or three beers, the less influence she has on me. Her point is totally lost on me, since she obviously has no idea on what I would consider irresponisbly. (I would not drive after 2+ beers, but drinking them and walking home is in NO WAY irresponsible).

I think that parents have more of an influnce on their children than many realize. I agree with the general message of the stupid "The Enforcer - Mom" commercial, though I think it is retarded that:

  • they are black
  • she offers NOTHING to back up, why she doesn't want her child to smoke weed

Maybe I am too naive, but if my parents offer me a REASON to do/ not to do things, it works much better on me than them telling me "'cause I said so".

why would the Cartel fund terrorism? They make their money from people of the western world addicted to coke (that includes americans) so if they were funding terrorism, they would be eliminating their customers, which is a bad decision, isn't it? If they were funding terrorism, they would be giving countries and incentive to control their borders better, which would make it hard to get drugs into these countries, thereby raising the street price in the country, but not the suppliers price....

bottom line, if the drug bosses were funding terrorism, they would be cutting into their own flesh. And -contrary to what TV might tell you- I am sure that these people are not idiots, hence they would not do this.

well, aparrently, the majority of the drugs i use are brought into Ireland by terrorist/banned organisations. i wont say which, as i'm sure somebody will take offence, but i'm just makin the point!

i love it when retards who're completly against drugs, go and try them, then go completly overboard. theu just look soo stupid.

i know a guy who started fightin with one of his friends because he heard he took an E. a few years later, the same guy tried them, then again & again, until he got to the stage where he was takin 14 a night. then he started dealing

I've heard different estimates about Afghani heroin production, but a conservative estimate places the figure at about 70% of the world's heroin.

from your source:

Afghanistan retook its place as the world's leading producer of heroin last year, after US-led forces overthrew the Taleban which had banned cultivation of opium poppies.

so the Taleban -the BAD guys as we know- BANNED the production. Why would someone ban the production of a good that supposedly serves them as their major source of income? Oh yes, I forgot, the bad guys are stupid...

I think it boils down to bad math and shady wording. They can say that if a joint comes from terrorists. That way smoking it funds them. They couldn't say every joint you smoke funds terrorist, if they did then they are plainly wrong.

The war on drugs, like many other issues, has taken the wrong path imo. they put more focus on blind faith than on informed decisions. Its true that people will have reactance to rules that limit their activities.

So I would say the most effective solution to the entire drug "problem" would have to do with Albert Bandura. Based on his research, local community members of countries (not implemented in the us) gave info from surveys finding out social problems. They gather a tv production company and make a serial drama (soap opera).

funk that, no one watches those. Well it has worked in these countries using actors that are very similar to the people (however I think in the us we have a distorted reality so we would rather watch people above us) play in roles that model the desired behavior.

In mexico birth rate was the problem, after the show condom sales went up from I think 2 mil. to like 6 mil. same results were obtained in other countries. wild stuff, so if we could implement it here it would help the war.

I have to mention there is a question of who plays god in these shows in deciding what is the better moral, and that our current tv watching is at a 90° angle to this kind, and also whether americans would feel the same attachment to teh actors on the show. It would have to involve kids and adults, and making that kind of a show competative with others is almost impossible.

wow that was long. My bad, sorry if you had to read it or broke your scroller passing it up.
