Re: Euro 2004 Draw

My predictions
Group A: Portugal, Greece
Group B: France, Croatia
Group C: Sweden, Denmark
Group D: Czech Republic, Germany

Greece will win over Spain just like in the Qualify
Croatia will beat England and make Sven Göran Eriksson unemployed
Sweden , Denmark & Italy will end on the same points but on goal-difference Sweden & Denmark will go through
Czech Rep will Beat Holland just like they did in the qualify.
Germany are always good in competetions and will also beat Holland

theres not a chance in hell italy will finish 3rd in their weak group.

denmark are not that good as england showed in the 2002 world cup by thrashing them and sweden without king henrik are much less of a force to be reckoned with.

bulgaria for me carry more of a threat to italy than both denmark and sweden.

C is the weakest group, and if Italy don't botch this one, they should have it made.

England should come out of Group B alongside France.

Group A and D are all to play for... Latvia and Greece are NOT to be underestimated here!

Don't get too cocky about the Czechs... they have a habit of choking in key situations, like they did against my least favourite team in Europe dating back to '98, Belgium

I'll call Germany and the Netherlands for Group D and Portugal and Spain in Group A, even though I'm not 100% sure that's how it'll turn out... well, to the victors go the spoils (Although I do hope the Dutch win )

my guess would be:
Group A: Portugal, Spain,
Group B: France, England,
Group C: Sweden, Italy
Group D: Germany, Netherlands

Spain will definently win over greece!
total winner im unsure i think most likely it will be either germany or spain.
GO SWEDEN!!!!!!!

Thumbs up

I'm not that bothered by England's draw, if we can't qualify from that group we don't deserve to go all the way.

We can raise our game against the big sides and I honestly believe we'll turn the French over. Then complacency will set in, we'll draw with the Swiss and then beat the Croatians in a scrappy game to seal top spot. France will win both their other games and take second.

Ahaha, it's not rugby here but football and France is far better than England at the moment.

Best strikers (Henry, Trezegoal...), best midfielders (Zidane, Vieira, Pires, Makelele...).
Our defence suxx a little and I hope that Desailly will have a little injury to make him out before the beginning of the competition.

My predictions

Group A: Portugal, Greece, Spain, Russia
Hard to say... By looking at line ups and depth, Portugal and Spain should easily advance, but Spain has tendency to choke sometimes and Portugal was not good at all during World Cup.
Greek football is underrated IMO. Russians don't bring much.
Teams to advance: Portugal and Spain *bites tongue*

Group B: France, England, Switzerland, Croatia
France definitely needs some new blood. Perhaps Lauren Robert might make the team? The veterans are still good, but the team may need Zidane, Henry and Trezeguet to play really well to advance.
England also needs to play consistently to advance. They may just have enough talent to take it all.
Croatia's heydays as a football power is over. Swiss football will need to rely on a lot of luck and tenacity to pull off some big upsets.
Teams to advance: France and England

Group C: Sweden, Bulgaria, Denmark, Italy
Italy being Italy is loaded with talent. Inzaghi, Totti, Del Piero brings a lot to the front. However, I have doubts about Italy's back four as IMO they did not have good World Cup. Italy also needs to stop play boring football.
Sweden has some talent and may have enough to advance, if Denmark fairs poorly.
Danish football is very interesting to watch, with flair in the front and midfield. I also have doubts about Danish defenders as from the matches I saw, they weren't that strong.
Since the days of Stoichkov, Bulgarian football has not seen good days.
Teams to advance: Italy and Sweden (another tough call)

Group D: Czech Republic, Latvia, Germany, Netherlands
German machine football that led them to World Cup finals should be strong. As far as I'm concerned, Oliver Kahn is some sort of demigod.
Netherlands squad is loaded with talent. Davids, van der Vaart, Seedorf, Makaay to name a few. But van der Sar is only an average keeper. Also, the Dutch needs to work together as a team to get far.
Czech football is going on strong. Nedved is having a good season and should carry the team.
Latvia somehow made through the qualifiers by beating Turkey, but Latvia has no strong talent other than Mart Poom. However, they may just bring a strong fight to the tournament.
Teams to advance: Germany and Czech

Can't see it happening while Pires is there. Robert is a fantastic player on his day but Pires is top class and, above all, consistent. If Robert can maintain his best form consistently he will make the French squad but he is a bit unlucky with someone of Pires's quality in front of him. If Pires gets an injury though you never know.

France's defence is certainly ageing, and one young player to look out for is Newcastle's other Frenchman, left-back Olivier Bernard. IMO he is probably the most under-rated full back in the Premier League. He is still developing his game in terms of positioning but he is rock solid in the tackle, confident on the ball and excellent going forward. He and Robert work together well overlapping down the left flank, as was seen against Arsenal at Highbury this season when they claimed a goal each. With Lizarazu nearing retirement Bernard could be in the French squad within a couple of years IMO.
