from the near 1h30min wait to get in - not thanks to bad queue... but the fact the police searched EVERYBODY who entered. even with our shoes off...
so... the people at the front of the queue (such as myself) were inside for an extended G&D set... the reason? Tiesto wouldn't make his set time of 1100 - 1230... he's in Ireland. Come on Gatecrasher for f*cks sake. Why he got double booked in the same slot i have no idea. Also why they couldn't change the slot time's to still have an hour half tiesto?
Scott Bond fills in for an hour, and PvD plays a little longer than expected... to make up the time.
Under a reduced schedule we now have Tiesto, Armin, Ferry & the Judge to come... and only 4 hours to fit them in. So we have 1 hour sets from all of them.
to cap off spending £40 in english sterling for 60 minutes of Tiesto - we then have first a speaker error that means Tiesto (through no fault of his own) isn't playing any loud bass... on the first few tracks... till a sound guy came and turned it up.
THEN one of the decks gave up. In the middle of Traffic. Tiesto looking more and more pissed... started traffic again on a different deck - Bass right up.. in defiance i imagined, and then practically tore off the deck and was ready to chuck it on the floor in disgust...
THEN the monitoring gives up - Tiesto signals the tech guy again, who looks at the problem - it seems he can't hear in the headphones to cue the next record. What ensues is tiesto dropping the volume of Benni Benassi - to allow the bass of the next tune to just (fingers crossed) sit over the top without actually checking the beats or anything! Just about managing that. A big conversation was held about the monitoring - i think tiesto had troubles with the decks... but also that he had no sound at all coming from the Pioneers - so tracks off CdR like Mark Norman - Rush had to be mixed on the spot without any cueing!
Finally with Rah, and Relooped and Radiohead Tiesto got into the swing of things.... only to be told to get off the decks... its Armin's turn. Tiesto didnt even wave or say goodbye. Just stormed off. And i really don't blame him. What a nightmare for him!

Liever een mindere line up en een perfecte organisatie dan een engelse pruts organisatie.
maar je weet natuurlijk nooit hoe het verhaal precies in elkaar stak dus je kan er nooit echt iets van zeggen.
