nah.
there are alot of technical schools out there geared toward training you in audio engineering.
definatly start looking around.
i'm studying it in my university, (i'm minoring in music recording).
i find that this is the best route, altho it is very expensive, and you have to take classes in other stuff, but you learn what you need for audio engineering and you get an education in something else.
go to a techinical school for audio engineering if you are absolutly sure thats what you want to do.

Truth of the fact is, you need money to survive. And if you have it, you can feed your children and put them through college.
Especially in the US, money matters, whether you believe its corruption or not, everyone needs it. You dont pay in rocks, you pay in cash.
