What I meant about Treebeard being changed was that the HOBBITS had to pressure him to do all that orc-killing good stuff, he didn't make the decision on his own, whereas in the book he was all-powerful and made the decision himself. Having the hobbits make the decision just sorta undermined his character, to me. Made him less of a leader in a way.

As for Faramir I can understand the time constraints the movie places on the characters...and I really am impressed by how LotR as a whole has stuck true to the books...but I thought with Boromir already having been corrupted to the Ring, Faramir was just too much..it kinda sends the message that all men are like Boromir, except for Aragorn...it just kinda sullies Faramir's character.

But yeah as a whole they are great films, did you hear Peter Jackson wants to bring the Hobbit to the big screen as well? that would be awesome, I think.

I read the books 15 years ago and I forget almost everything that has happened till I saw the movies- so it's sorta cool.
I still dont remember what happens in the end.

the thing i like best about LOTR movies, is taht they didn't clean it up at all. People are covered with dirt. The women don't have expensive looking done up hair. Everything just looks so authentic. Moves like The Mummy, or Pirates of the Caribean just have that dulled down look. I hate that.

i was watching the extra DVDs on my extended Fellowship. i can't believe they can go barefoot through all that terrain. imagine how hard it was for Elijah and Sam(name?) to be climbing rocks as those scene in Two Towers. true dedication really pays off.
well, in my dvd, things did end up taking a very dangerous turn from the barefoot walking.
the very end of fellowship, we see frodo in the river and telling sam that he is "going alone." Then sam runs into the water. Suddenly sam stops and yells in pain. It ends up there was a piece of glass in the water. ouch! what is glass doing in such the beautiful lands of New Zealand?!

Never read it. Saw only a part from the 2nd movie.
But I have to say this: Liv Tyler = yum.

i have a family trip to mexico for a week when it comes out. maybe i can go for the teusday midnight show. ugh, the best part about watching movies is being the first to watch it. But i'll have to wait 2 weeks, go into an empty theater, and be amazed, all by myself.

You know, originally I thought that the change of Faramir's character in the movie was quite bothersome, but someone made an interesting point to me about it. If you consider that in the book, even Aragorn is tempted by the ring, and since Aragorn is like the king of all men, it seems odd that Faramir would not have been at all tempted.

That is quite interesting come to think about it. Then again, it could be something to to with Argorn's blood line.

Oh yes, apparently Peter Jackson is extermely keen to make the Hobbit into aq movie! I'm on a high because of that; the Hobbit was my introduction into tolkien, and is by far my favotire Tolkien book; I still love it.

I got my 3 packages today of each collectors edition for the series. Fellowship,Two Towers and Return of the Ring. Extended along with 3 extra discs with tons of behind-the-scenes documentaries.
I'm at the very end of Fellowship right now with Sam drowning. Oh man, such a beautiful movie. Now i finally have something to put on my wall, a map of Middle-Earth.
Unfortunately, I don't have any popcorn, nor the means to walk up the street for some so I'm eating Trix out of the box. No coke either, but there's some Capri Sun. I wonder how long the extended Return of the King is.

If you haven't done so, I can highly recommend reading the novels. You'll learn a lot about the flow of things that Jackson chose/was forced to change/edit for the films. Good stuff.
