actually, before they had mixers to do the effects, DJs did the effects manually on the tables.
Flanger was done by playing two identical tracks just off by just a tinny bit. As one track was sped up, the effect was created. Idea behind it is quiet simple: SUPERPOSTION of waves 
Echo was a bit harder.. two idnetical tracks playing together, one faster bit a bit and using the crossfader really quickly to create the echo sound.
Other effects on the Pioneer 600 aren't humanly possible such reverb (adds alotta ambience to the music and sounds like a very very large arena) and Panning cuz it does it so fast to the point it's not humanly possible. These are all digital effects... lotta fun fooling around with them. |
yeah they do those in hip hop all the time...they are actually fun to do manually.
