Cool

after using a mates to play out with, i think they are excellent in just about every possible way. however, what did piss me off was that the headband was moving all over the place, and as i was only a couple clicks off smallest setting, they were soon big enuff to fit round my waist, a problem i dont get with the mdr's or mos'

as for sony's cracking... the best way to keep that from happening is dont use the stupid bag they come with. when you smush them in the bag is when they have the most stress on the hinges.

I bought the Sony 700s a couple of weeks ago, mostly because the local University bookstore was selling 'em for about $180 CND (as opposed to the usual retail of ~$230ish CND). I would have sprung for the Pioneers instead, but that might have made the people on my Christmas list a bit grumpy.

I've briefly used the Pioneers though, and they definately feel more solid than the Sonys. That said, the Sonys blew me away, nice to finally be using a pair of good headphones.

As for the cracking bit, one tip I've seen is that folding the headphones places the most stress on them, so it was suggested to me to have them pulled all the way out when folding.

I'd suggest returning the Sony's and getting something a bit more hi-fi... you'd be surprised how far away the Sony's are from "good headphones" in sound quality... go to a place that sells studio headphones (guitar center, other musician's stores), and check out the "Sony MDR-V6" or "Sony MDR-7506" or "Sennheiser HD280 Pro".

I confirm. Precisely the right cup, as it's linked whith a small cable to the left cup. One day, without getting the HP overstressed, the joint of the right cup get broken, and the small cable, that pass inside the joint, was cutted... But those HP are the best I've tried, and now I'm waiting for a new pair
