or you can just google "*model* review" and it should come up with results.

i found a review of the second cd player on cnet:
"Cons: Lacks sufficient Amplifier Gain, (max volume of 25 is hardly comparable with other players), "

and i found this player to be louder than the sony, imo 25 is easily loud enough, the only time i'd put it at that volume is for a breakdown

thats why user reviews are crap, they're just opinions and can misinform and he didn't mention that you can't resume or search through a track

i tried the old google model+review search already, just got the odd dodgy user review there too
aren't there any professionals?
all they do is vaguely list the manufacturers specs, sometimes blatently incorrectly too, though sometimes the manufacturers have that on their websites too

oops, turned into a rant

I have a couple different types of Sony CD Walkmans in the $100 range - don't ask me the model, don't care to look them up. I use them while exercising. You can't crank the volume to earsplitting decibel levels, even though I would like that feature and be able to adjust downward from there. Some of the title tracks displayed depend on how you save your music. You can rename ID3 tags so they display properly, use Winamp. Best thing about the Sonys is the G-Force Protection - I've actually dropped the damn things and they never miss a beat. Try that with some others...

Sony DNE-710

The player itslef rocks because it shows tags and has folder use to seperate your silverblue tunes from tiesto and pvd tunes.

My quarrel with it is the audio burning software. 400 songs per cd sounds nice but lets says compressing to 64kbs(quality is not ruined unless your an audio savant) will take many many hours.

Will play nomal mp3 cds and have not tested the folder use to those yet.

yeah, i listened to this one in a shop, atm the most likely one i'll get is the DEN715, same as the 710 but with inline remote (and ugly blue circle on the front )
have you ever hooked it up to your stereo? if the throughput is loud enough, i'm going to get this one

i just found out about this one though: sony portable dvd player (about $50 more than the sony with inline remote)
at some point i'm going to start burning my mp3s on dvds, i dont want my cd player to become as useless as my cassette player is now

anyone up-to-date on portable dvd players? i'd like one with the ability to play mp3s off cd-r and dvd+/- (dont care about movie playback). the above doesn't say if it plays dvd's mp3s

Funny thing you asked is I have been looking for my tape adapter because I have no cd player in the car. I found it and the sound is not diminshed. It will take one day getting used to but I suggest find a friend that has it and be amazed how nice it is. Then buy it. My friend got it for 50$(the floor model??)he said the last one they had at target but he loved it and then I loved it. So thats why I got it.
