Plastic ones suck, they would always get tangled and wouldn't work well. Best thing to do with them IMO is to get them to go down a whole flight of stairs.

and if for some god forsaken reason you get tired of playing with it (which i highly doubt), you can tangle it all up and try to untangle it (it'd become a puzzle, hours of entertainment... or frustration) hehe

actually metal ones got caught just as often, you had to be pretty careful with both
