How about all the TA's get together and vote on an all time top 20 of all time (haha I know what you're thinking, need another of those threads like a hole in our heads but bear with me).

After say, two weeks of debate, the final list can be drawn up and they can be zipped together (somebody could even try mixing them or something) and stuck up on the site for the newbs (and myself as I'm pretty new).

It could be a sort of initiation, something along the lines of "until you've heard these tracks you're not a TA".

Haha, just a thought anyway.

ok, so u can upload 65mb, but what is the max limit, coz it sounds like a lot of people will want to upload, aslo maybe split it into classics, brand new, etc, and top 20 of the week, so u could have a chart section. That would b good if possible, also can u leach, i am only a 56k, so i would need to leach really, hate when i have got nearly all of it, and loose it coz i disconnect.

Thanx

Ok now you've guys have brought up concerns I havn't really thought about. I have a T3 connection at work so I havn't had to worry about timing out. I went to a friend's house who is on 56k and it timed out. So it seems like who ever is on a 56k connection will either have to tell me which song they want to post and I'll download it from AG and then post it for them or they can up it to a myplay acct and pm me w/ the details so I can move it to the database(unless someone has a better idea).

As far as total space is concerned...I'm not sure on the limit. I work for the company that makes Quickbase and they let us all use the service for free. Normal size limit for customers is like 250MB I think, but employees weren't given a specific limit. When I asked them if there was one they said that there was no limit, but if I go crazy they'll let me know. So far I've upped about 750MB total to different databases and they havn't said anything...plus the database still says "less than 1% full". I'm going to try to keep it under one GB just so they won't get on me about it. Anyway I think that covered everything if not, please repost w/ other questions.

Again I'll be posting the link soon.

Anti, I see you are persuing your idea. Thats good, one thing. If you are going to have people upload thier tunes they would like to share then thats not a bad idea. The thing is that when I uploaded the faithless track to your datahbase a couple of weeks back like you asked, I tested it out and saw that your databases transfer rate with 1 person downloading is beow 40.00 k/sec. So think about it, say if a couple people use your datebase to upload and share tracks on the forum. Links get thrown around here and there, eats bandwith up and then it runs as low as 20 k/sec then to 10.00 k/sec, then lower and lower until it reaches around 4.00 k/sec.

I dont know about you but when I post tracks from my account I try not to keep it up for long because if I do this not only kills bandwith, but if bellsouth see's how much bandwith it's killing it will then kill the account. My rates are alwayz over 110.00 k/sec and bellsouth has a ton of servers to host thier users files because it's a big organiztion, so if it decreaases it will not decrease much because of this. So before you go through with this idea I would think of the concequnces.

Don't think I'm putting youdown here but as for band width I believ he said T1 and what happens is he is only as fast as his fastest connection. So if there is 1 peep on 56k and u on cable both dling it will be slow. If there is budyy on his T1 and you on your cable it will be fast.

I WANT THE UINFO SO I CAN UL!!!!! PLZ!!!

peace,
Mike
