I have it and I love it. For those that don't think it's responsive, I imagine that they haven't used it. A decent computer can do all the work real time and have a delay of what amounts to a fraction of a millisecond. For those that are going to come on and say that they can hear or feel that fraction of a millisecond delay. Who do you really think you're fooling?

i believe its an amazing tool... just the same, i have seen it do
a minor fuckup or two. if i had the money, and excessive amounts
of vinyl, id probably seriously consider gettin it. John Acquaviva
threw an abusively amazing set with it here, so did Marco Carola
and DJ Stryke, and i wasnt able to tellit was FS till i saw the
setup.

for people that say "why emulate something that works so perfect?"
well, i think you're missing the point. no disrespect or anything,
i know many of you have been doing this long before i even knew
what it was, but i dont think the point of FS is to replace the
vinyl format. it still uses a vinyl, and even though it emits a
"timecode", it is quite responsive with the the music. my conception
on the whole deal is FS was made for those with too many vinyls,
those that have gotten their luggage screwed with one too many
times, or those who fear for the safety of their wax. it may also
prove to be useful for scratch DJ's, as i understand the FS vinyls
are rather cheap, you dont have to worry about abusing it, just
get a few extras.

there are still a few bugs and glitches, but short of having your
own vinyl press and making copies of your tracks (as is a great
advantage of CDs) FS is a pretty effective solution for those that
want to protect their vinyls. and well, having all your music on
your laptop is a definite plus. not to mention, for the vinyl junkies,
you could spin your own productions, edits, remixes, etc etc on
vinyl instead of CD. i think that is something to like (although
i quite like CD spinning).

to each his own i guess, and there are surely a few issues to be
resolved in the department of reliability, but i think for some DJs
FinalScratch can be a very nifty commodity, and for others, it might
almost become a necessity.

reminds me of when Steve Lawler came to spin here, how i was so
anxious to see him. it gets late. it gets later. where's lawler?
the promoter tells me he was held up at some stop and his vinyl
boxes were confiscated because they were metal and the US was on
hihg alert on terrorist attacks (his flight went thru US before
getting here). Steve calls up a DJ here, they go to his house,
pick out some records, and Steve improvs a 3 hour set. spun mostly
classics, excellent mixing. but it of course was rather shabby
compared to his normal work, not to mention he was scheduled to
spin 6 hours. had the magic of FS been involved, he could have
had his laptop with him, and all could have been avoided.

I just said the 1200's wont crash..
They are built like a tank. A laptop is much more fragile just because it isn't made to be running at a very hot, humid place. If it happens at a party with some of the best djs of the world like claude young, ruskin, ben sims then it can happen to anyone.

I know this is off topic, but i just want to tell that i heard Claude Young spin in new year's eve, and it was the most incredible techno performance i've seen.

The guy scratched the hell out of the turntables (he wasn't using any Final Scratch) first using his hand, then is elbow and then his HEAD (couldn't tell if he done it with the forehead or the nose)!!
Truly amazing dj'ing.

I don't think he'll ever go on fs again
on that party his first mix he was allready trainwrecking and it didn't stay with one bad mix. Music also stopped twice due to crash then he switched over to real vinyl.
But yea his technique is usually great I know.

what os were they running? i have heard good things w/ the linux/mac version.

It cost about 500$?
That's so much...and IMO I wouldn't trust it live in the club but it should be nice for home use

After seeing what somebody like Paul van Dyk can do with FS, I'm totally sold. The set he played in To a few months back would have been impossible without the tools he was using.

Of course, many (including Mark Oliver on TA) have stated that few people use it the way he does... but it does show how powerful it can be when ya don't just use it to play MP3s you've downloaded and instead treat it as a new way to play music.
