the chip isn't make the slighest difference. buy whatever suits your price range. there are loyal intel fans out there, and there are loyal amd fans.

Agreed.

Just because one company has problems making a soundcard work right with AMD hardware, doesn't mean that the others dont.

I'm going to let this drop but for the record it's not just one company. Even M-Audio has reported issues with AMD chips and VIA chipsets. Check out their knowledge base in their support section. My entire point is AMD has more problems than Intel. I have already given two examples from different reputable companies to support my case. Make your own decision.

tx a bundle guys...really it makes a big difference, i would have probably chosen the audigy 2 but looks like M-Audio it is... just gotta look into more about compatibablity issues

There you go.. VIA chipsets. Via is notorious for making nasty chipsets. You can't just diss the entire Socket A platform because of via.. Nvidias nforce chipsets have been nothing but solid in my expirience. I'm not saying the AMD Platform is perfect, but I am saying that it is FAR more comparable than it was in the 'early days'.

And no, I'm not an Amd zealot, I own boxes on both platforms.. Desktop - Athlon "2500+", Laptop - Pentium-M 1400, and Server/Workhorse - Dual Celeron 466...
