just plain & simple, when vocals are in the track from the start, they can even make the song or break the song. with slapped on vocals, i only know 2 good examples, rest has sucked majorly
cass & slide - perception (new vocal mix)
masters & nickson feat. justine suissa - out there (5th dimension) (vocal mix)

and oh yeah, does anyone who is the vocalist for perception?

Vocals don't ruin trance tracks! I think it's a more element that makes trance a great and different style to others styles.

i wouldnt like trance without vocals EVER... once in a while i need my trance to have vocals; it creates energy silly....

if vocals can be added with ruining the whole mood/melody/synths and without overshadowing the whole beat; then

IMO yes.ive never been a fan of full vocal tunes.the records that i buy mostly have no vocals at all as i see the actual track to be always stronger than any vocal sampled over it.

to me they are cheesy and of course there are exceptions (ATRC) i actually prefer the words to be spoken and not sung ie:sound of overdose -city to city and dj ton tb - electronic malfunction et etc.IMO they go down better

my 2 cents...

vocals make or break the track

let the music speak for itself!

imo, vocals only ruin Trance tracks if they weren't intended when the original track was produced, but only pasted on later in order to get the track into the dutch top 40 or whatever...that is when they suck

Yes and no, and also based on personal preference. It all depends on the voice of the vocalist and how well they flow with the track. Well sung and well placed vocals can often add to what would be an otherwise uninspiring track, and they can do vice versa.

Vocals add emotion. Its harder to produce tracks with vocals though. If the producer is artistic and can write lyrics next to making quality productions, then its a good mix. If not.. then you have Burned With Desire. Sue me.
